gulesin on "How did you chose between Fairfax and California Cyro?"

We are just starting down this road and these two sperm banks keep popping up, so I am going to asume they are pretty large and very well known. I was concerned about the testing they do on the donors, but wow- they only take 1 out of 100, at both places! Pretty stringent in terms of both their sample as well as FDA infectious disease testing, psych testing, etc.

However, I noticed on the Fairfax website that they said they are the only bank to karotype all samples, which I thought was pretty interesting (as many hidden things can come up when you karotype). They website also made a big deal that they test all samples for HPV, etc etc.

But, all things being equal, and me coming from a place of not knowing a THING about finding a donor, how do I chose between these two? Do you have any thoughts/ideas/recomendations either way? I know they are both good and have gotten many women on here pg, but beyond that- how can I know they won't let slip in some weirdo-psycho donor who just goes from bank to bank across the country donating? (Is there a national registery of how many kids are born per donor? Not the silbling registery which was self-started, I mean a national reg that goes by social securty number or something.)

All these questions, I know. But ANY insight would be most helpful.

Thanks!
Sunshine

ETA: I just spoke to a manager at Cali Cryo, and of course, they too also do karotyping. I think Fairfax just made it seem like SUCH a big deal that they do that, when every bank should. So I think I am leaning more towards California....
